Born in London

Lived in Pinner, East Africa, Pinner again,

Stevenage, Southend, Rochford, back to Southend, then most of my adult life in Leigh on Sea.

Inspired to learn by gazing in wonder at a painting we bought by local artist Jonathan Trim.

I started painting in 2018.

Evening classes. No formal training as such.

Initially I painted the seasons and the weather. The ever changing scenery, greenery, skies and light, time and tide. Aiming to express energy and movement, and in some way to purvey the emotions of what I see everyday, from the raging stormy skies over the Thames estuary to blissful and serene summer mornings.

More recently I’m trying to create more abstracted work. Perhaps incorporating my love of music, street art, and my upbringing in Africa with all those brightly coloured ‘shanty town shacks’.

I really enjoy ‘throwing paint around’, sometimes literally. I enjoy the energy and the happy accidents.
